Kamagra
Kamagra (sildenafil 100 mg) is the most popular generic version of sildenafil, produced by Ajanta Pharma (India). Kamagra contains medium and highest doses of sildenafil, which makes it a more efficient treatment of impotence than most of other medications available on the market today.
As of 1998 when sildenafil was first introduced to the market following approval by FDA, this condition is no longer irreversible and can be successfully addressed by the use of safe medications and their more economically approachable generics.
How does sildenafil work?
The inhibition of the phosphodiesterase enzyme, at the level of the cavernous bodies in patient’s genitals, involves modifications of a complex chemical reaction (in which nitric oxide and cGMP are involved). The result of this action is the dilation of the cavernous vessels and promotes the flow of blood to the penis. In this way, a healthy and lasting erection occurs that can be controlled and achieved again shortly after ejaculation.
When combined with sexual stimuli, the active substance in Kamagra (generic sildenafil citrate) works by increasing blood flow to the penis, helping a man achieve and maintain an erection. To treat erectile dysfunction, take the medication orally, following your doctor's instructions (it is generally recommended to take a pill only when necessary). Take Kamagra 100 mg at least 30 minutes and a maximum of 4 hours before sexual intercourse (taking it 1 hour before ensures greater effectiveness), but never take more than 1 tablet per day.
Generic Sildenafil works by increasing blood flow toward the penis, which helps achieving or keeping erection. Sildenafil only works if you are aroused. Kamagra has an average effect of 4 hours and can facilitate erection during this period any time the man taking it is sexually stimulated.
Adverse effects
There are 11 "variants" (or isoforms) of the phosphodiesterase enzyme: the one most expressed at the level of the penile circulation is type 5 of phospho-diesterase (5PDE); the other enzyme isoforms are found in other body areas. Although the action of Kamagra is mainly aimed at PDE type 5, its effect also partly concerns the other enzymatic forms present in organs or systems.
This is why some patients may experience side effects.
Generic Sildenafil can cause:
- Headaches
- Heartburn
- Diarrhea
- Hot flashes
- Nose bleeds or blocked/congested nose
- Difficulty sleeping
- Numbness, burning or tingling sensation in the arms, hands, feet or legs
- Muscle aches
- Change in color vision (seeing a blue tint in objects or having difficulty distinguishing blue from green)
- Light sensitivity
Call emergency room if you experience pain in the chest, difficulty breathing, partial or complete loss of vision, heart palpitations, swelling, hives, painful or abnormally lasting erection. These side effects are extremely rare and occur in less than 1% of patients
Sildenafil and Alcohol
The use of Kamagra may cause dizziness or vision problems. Consuming alcohol can increase this sensation. It is strongly recommended to impose a limit on alcohol consumption when taking sildenafil.
Interactions
Sildenafil is metabolized by the liver enzyme, or rather its isoform CYP34A. There are other drugs that are degraded by the same enzyme, and those should never be used alongside with sildenafil. It is your doctor who can give you the full list of medications incompatible with Kamagra; your task is therefore to keep your subscriber updated about the medications you are using or planning to use alongside with Kamagra.
Some of the medicines that should not be combined with generic sildenafil are: certain anti-retroviral drugs (ritonavir, indinavir, atazanavir etc), antifungal drugs (such as ketoconazole and itraconazole), clarithromycin (a macrolide antibiotic) and nefazodone (an antidepressant).
Warnings
In patients taking drugs capable of accelerating the enzymatic activity of CYP34E - such as rifampin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine and phentoin - there is an accelerated degradation of 5PDE inhibitors and it is therefore necessary to use higher doses.
Precautions
Do not drive, operate any machinery, or do anything that requires alertness or clear vision until you have tried using Kamagra on several occasions and know how your body reacts to it.
Sexual activity may be discouraged in patients with serious heart disease, as well as physical exercise in general. The doctor should always be informed about the patient's heart problems and then the doctor will decide which is the most appropriate treatment for erectile dysfunction.
Contraindications
Men with the history of myocardial infarction, a stroke or severe heart problems during the past half a year should not use Kamagra and other drugs in its class (Viagra). The same pertains to men with unregulated blood pressure. If you are diagnosed with unstable angina or severe heart failure (New York Heart Association – NYHA class IV), your doctor will consider other options for addressing erectile dysfunction than the use of oral drugs.
Kamagra is not recommended in patients with:
- • Stomach or duodenum ulcer
- • Retinitis pigmentosa
- • Peyronie’s disease or penile scarring/deformity
- • Renal or hepatic problems
- • Sickle cell disease, leukemia, melanoma
Remember that only a medical practitioner can establish how safe and effective the use of Kamagra can be in your case.
